Marybeth Fitzsimmons, a 2020 MB graduate and alum of Northeastern University, created this design with a focus on atmosphere, color, and the feeling of a winter landscape coming alive. She combines vivid pastels, sharp mountain silhouettes, and small details—from skiers to buildings—to capture the energy and community of a snowy day. Marybeth shared, “This snowboard design is a deeply personal and nostalgic mountainscape, layered with symbolic "easter eggs" that reflect my time at Moses Brown. While the mountain setting is fitting for the sport, the illustration features several specific nods to the school community. Prominently placed is Middle House, our symbolic MB building, reimagined as a beautiful ski lodge at the base of the mountain. Near it, our school mascot, Moses, makes an appearance as well. While only a few will understand, a flock of geese flies, symbolizing my soccer team's championship season and our spirit of team unity. On the opposite side of the board, look for a subtle figure seated with his back to the viewer, identifiable by the former Head of School's iconic scarf, serving as a playful and ever-present reference to the MB community.” The soft sun and cool blues give the piece a dreamy, storybook quality, blending whimsy with the natural beauty of the mountains.
