FAQ

About GILSON

Where are GILSON snowboards and skis made?

In our factory at 100 East Sherman Street in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania, where our crew pairs skilled handwork with precision machinery and robotics. Every board outside the Happy Hour Series is built start to finish there. The three Happy Hour Series boards (Pinegrenade, Moonwalker and Go Bear) are made by a partner factory in Taiwan and shipped from Selinsgrove.

Who started GILSON?

Nicholas Gilson and Austin Royer, two teachers who met in Nashville, started GILSON in 2013. They pressed their first boards in a basement workshop, then moved to Pennsylvania and turned a horse stable into a shop.

Is GILSON still in business? I read the factory burned down.

Yes, we're building boards every weekday. In November 2022, a fire destroyed our factory in Winfield, Pennsylvania. We moved into a new factory in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania, and started building there in September 2023. Every USA-made GILSON comes out of that shop today.

Can I visit the factory?

Yes. Visitors are welcome Monday through Friday, 12 to 4 PM, at 100 East Sherman Street, Selinsgrove, PA 17870. You can also choose Store Pickup at checkout and grab your order right from the factory.

What's the difference between a flat base and 3D Edge?

A flat base keeps the edge in full contact with the snow for locked-in grip. Our 3D Edge lifts the steel edge a hair above the snow, for a looser, more forgiving, catch-free feel that rides a little surfier. On models that offer both, the price is the same and you pick at checkout.

See: Flat vs 3D Bases

Which boards come with a flat base, 3D Edge, or both?
Model Base
Undead, Homebrew, Bounty Hunter Flat or 3D Edge (your pick)
Duel, Fly 3D Edge
JCK Flat
Happy Hour Series Flat
Odyssey skis 3D Edge tapering in towards the nose and tail, flat underfoot
Fusion skis Flat
What's the Happy Hour Series?

Three boards designed by GILSON and made by a partner factory in Taiwan. The Pinegrenade, Moonwalker and Go Bear are all Dirty-Pop Camber with a flat base, with a 1-year warranty. Compared with our USA-made boards, they use an extruded base (vs. sintered), biaxial fiberglass (vs. triaxial) and standard sidewalls (vs. full-wrap poured), and the warranty is 1 year (vs. 5).

What are GILSON boards made of?

Our USA-made boards use a Pennsylvania Poplar hardwood core, certified by Real American Hardwood and the Keystone Wood Products Association, with triaxial fiberglass, a full-wrap sidewall, a full-wrap steel edge, VDS edge damping, a sintered P-tex base and sublimated graphics.

Are GILSON boards handmade?

Every USA-made board is built by our crew in Selinsgrove, pairing skilled handwork with precision machinery and robotics.

How do I pick a model and size?

Every board page has a size chart by rider weight and boot size. Still stuck? Email info@gilsonsnow.com or call (570) 221-9445 and we'll help you choose.

Do you make skis?

Yes, two models built in Selinsgrove: the Fusion (Freestyle 96) and the Odyssey (All Mountain, 99mm), plus artist and collab graphics. Both carry our 5-year warranty.

Can I get a custom or 1-of-1 board?

Yes. With a Custom 1-of-1 board, one of our artists reaches out within 48 hours and works with you on the design, with unlimited rounds. Art usually takes about a week and a half, then we build it in about 7 days. Custom designs can't be returned.

Will my bindings fit?

GILSON boards use a 2x4 insert pattern with 28 inserts, 14 per foot in 7 rows, so standard 4-hole bindings fit with plenty of stance options. Burton EST bindings are made only for Burton's Channel and won't mount on a GILSON. Not sure about yours? Send us the model and we'll check.

What does the warranty cover?

5 years on USA-made snowboards and skis, 1 year on Happy Hour Series boards and apparel. It covers manufacturing defects, delamination or structural failures not caused by impact, and insert or core defects. It doesn't cover normal wear, impact damage, improper mounting, solvents, or closeout, demo and Final Sale items, and it isn't transferable. Closeout items have "Closeout" in the product name; older-season graphics that aren't marked as closeouts carry the full warranty. To file a claim, email warranty@gilsonsnow.com with the subject "WARRANTY," your proof of purchase, photos and a short description. We review claims within 5 business days and repair first whenever we can. You cover shipping to us, and we cover return shipping on approved claims.

What payment options do you accept?

Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and Shop Pay. Shop Pay Installments lets eligible US orders split into 4 payments.

Where can I read reviews?

Every board page shows reviews from verified buyers. Boards that share a shape and construction share reviews, and each review shows which board it was written for. We publish every review, good or bad. Store-wide reviews live on our Google Business Profile.
